Program duration: 90 mins including interval -
Multi-movement works have historically been at the core of classical music since its rise to the concert stage. Ziggy and Miles present a unique program of suites and sonatas, all arranged/adapted for the guitar duo. Featuring their own arrangement of Bach’s Italian Concerto and Debussy’s Suite bergamasque, the brothers demonstrate the expressive strengths of the guitar duo while keeping true to their respective originals. The other two works were both originally for other instrument combinations but adapted for guitar duo by their composers. Nigel Westlake’s Mosstrooper Peak was originally for solo guitar but was adapted for guitar duo in 2014 for the Grigoryan Brothers and stands as the only major guitar duo sonata by an Australian composer. Similarly, Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali’s Suite Retratos was originally written for bandolim and strings but has undergone numerous adaptations since. The adaptation for guitar duo happened on request from the Assad Brothers and has become a staple of the guitar canon that has shaped and defined the musical language for the ensemble.

“Excellent ensemble skills and articulations throughout with virtuosity to spare.” – This Is Classical Guitar
“Deeply considered musicianship, immaculate care and superlative technique.” – 5MBS

Mike McClellan
Mike McClellan - The Last Song and Dance?
Legendary singer-songwriter Mike McClellan returns to The Royal for a special Sunday afternoon concert. It was late 1965 when Mike McClellan first took to the stage at the Troubadour. It was Sydney’s premier folk venue. Few among the audience that night would have been aware that they were witnessing the beginning of a career that would see the young man with the engaging tenor voice and remarkable guitar technique go on to become one of the most acclaimed singer, songwriter, guitarists of his generation.
And it is even less likely that they would have conceived of him still enchanting audiences in 2025. Though seemingly ageless, and with no desire to stop performing, Mike has suggested that this tour will be the last long one he will undertake. The depth and artistry of his writing, singing and playing has never waned across his long career. The concert will feature songs from his entire career.

Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham
Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham with Genevieve Chadwick
Two voices. One heart. Zero pretense. Raw, real, and ridiculously good, the music born of this unique pairing has been described as “folksy country” but in truth, it cannot be contained within a simple genre description.
The highly recognisable guitar work of Josh Cunningham has been a defining element to the sound of iconic Australian band The Waifs for over three decades, whilst over the same time span, Felicity Urquhart developed a voice and style that must be experienced to be believed as she summited the pinnacle of Australian country music.
Not content to stay in their ‘folk rock royalty’ or ‘queen of country’ lanes, the couple simply make the music of their hearts, creating the category defying sound that inspires joy and stirs the soul.
Already ARIA-nominated (The Song Club) and three times Golden Guitar winners (Birdsong), these legends aren’t resting on their laurels - they’re writing the next chapter. Catch fresh tracks from their upcoming album, plus the songs you already love as you join them on a musical journey that’s fiery and full of heart, where past and present harmonise, and every note tells a story. Don’t miss it.
